Robert M. Kimmel, Jr., M.D.

Robert M. Kimmel, Jr. MDRobert M. Kimmel, Jr. MD is board eligible by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. He joined The Georgia Institute for Plastic Surgery in July 2024, following completion of his plastic surgery residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center Chattanooga.

Dr. Kimmel’s plastic surgery practice specializes in both cosmetic and plastic surgery with the scope of his practice including – breast cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, extremity reconstruction, hand surgery, facial fractures after trauma, skin lesion removal, and aesthetic surgery of the face and body. He is fully trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Kimmel is a graduate of University of Vermont undergraduate and St. James School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed general surgery residency at Quinnipiac University Frank H. Netter SOM Waterbury Hospital. He then went on to train at University of Tennessee Health Science Center Chattanooga for plastic surgery.

He and his wife, Mikallyn, have three wonderful children, Vera, Elle, and Crew. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, family time, being outdoors, traveling, and skiing. They are happy to be a part of the Savannah community.

Publications/Research

Dr. Kimmel is published in Annals of Plastic Surgery and participated in several research projects during his surgery training. Two of his quality improvement projects were recognized by the University of Tennessee and presented on the podium. He continues to actively participate in ongoing case studies and research.

Personal Interests
